Bought this item via Amazon over other retailers because of the free shipping (delivered very quickly by Fed-Ex). Took a while to put together, and the tension chord was a complete bitch, but I broke out my trusty wrench and got it in place. This bike is very sturdy, and I tightened the piss out of the nuts and bolts so it would be. I can see where the base legs and seat may wobble if the bolts are not tight, so be vigilant about that. Had to get used to the smooth, noiseless ride, and the higher tension settings will get smoother as I get more used to it. The lower settings are very smooth and effortless. The plastic case was intact, no bolts were missing, all was good, and the bike fits into a convenient spot in my apartment and takes up little space. As a cardio exerciser, it works well, and after 15 minutes of use I was sweating like, well, like a fat guy on a bike. After 30 minutes I could barely walk, but, again, that's due to me, not the bike. The seat really does hurt the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, with a caveat (updated 12/2013), October 8, 2011

I researched pretty thoroughly before buying and for the $ this was exactly what I was looking for - a combo of simplicity and quality. I knew I wouldn't be compelled to use it if it felt shoddy, but it is quiet and sturdy.

Some of the issues brought up by other reviewers were concerning- difficult for one person to put together, poor resistance, hard seat, etc. and here's what I've found:

Assembly: The tension cable was a bit tricky to set up until I found that if you turn the resistance dial on the front post towards 8- it will give you more length to work with. It was so much easier to assemble after that. Don't fret if it seems like it may be too loose- dial back to shorten to easily place into the housing. Overall, even with adjusting it, it took me about 30-40 minutes to put together.

Resistance: When I first started riding I was almost at the max resistance, and I'm no athlete, so I knew something had to be adjustable or it was bad goods. The... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good moderate-exertion women's bike, December 5, 2011

I ride a real bicycle 3-4 times a week. I have very muscular legs and can easily ride 20+ miles over the course of the day.

I bought this exercise bike so I can stay fit without having to go out in the nasty weather (snow, rain, and ice.)

Assembly: Straightforward and fairly easy. But, the plastic body of the bike is cracked on one side. I'm ticked off about that, but it doesn't affect the bike's function.

Seat: There is nothing wrong with this seat. I don't know why so many users have complained; I'm guessing they are not frequent bike riders and are looking for an easy way to get fit. Virtually any bike seat is uncomfortable if you aren't used to riding a bike. As for me, after riding this bike for an hour I have no butt discomfort. I attribute this to my regular bike usage. For newbies, I estimate it will take a week or so to become accustomed to sitting on a bike seat.

Exertion: The highest setting is not difficult to pedal. Maybe this... Read more
